Soul Curiosity

I am an artist, poet, holistic health enthusiast, farm girl, storyteller, and trauma-informed somatic yoga teacher. I grew up on a llama farm in Washington State and lived in Utah and Oregon before returning to my hometown, where I now live with my husband, dogs, and chickens. To our surprise, we recently became guardians of my husband's 12-year-old cousin. We are currently going through the legal process to officially adopt him.

I have a B.A. in Sociology focusing on Native American studies from Western Washington University. As Co-director of the Native American Mentoring Program at WWU, I tutored and mentored youth on the Lummi reservation, which catalyzed my interest in working with Indigenous youth. I obtained an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology at the University of Utah and, in 2007, became a counselor at NAYA ECA, a Native American high school in Portland, Oregon. 

In 2010, I transitioned to the Nike World Headquarters at Nike N7, a Native brand within Nike, and for 6.5 years, I oversaw roles in program, product, brand, and merchandising. Wanting to be closer to family, I joined Wenaha Group, a Native-owned Construction Management company as Director of Marketing and Business Development. With a desire to lead a team and support my local community, I then became the Communications Manager at Kitsap Regional Library, overseeing nine branches that serve over 80,000 patrons and two tribal communities. 

Beyond being the owner and creator of Soul Curiosity, I am the Director of Marketing and Program Development for American Indigenous Business Leaders, where I write business leadership and wellness curriculum, mentor Indigenous college youth, facilitate development retreats, and manage AIBL's national annual conference, in addition to graphic design and marketing. In 2022, I became a recipient of the National Center for American Indian Economic Development’s 40 Under 40 Award and joined Women Who Rise as a founding board member.

My passions include gardening, chickens, dogs, freelance graphic design, and creating digital art. Because of my multi-ethnic and cultural background, I consider myself eclectic and diverse in my views and spiritual practices. I love dancing, historical romance movies, and all things farm life. People describe me as warm, outgoing, dependable, and funny. If I could snap my fingers and be anywhere, I would be dancing barefoot on a warm beach with my pups at sunset, with a beautiful floral crown, connecting with nature and feeling the music deep within my soul.
