Story
This collection connects back to the local indigenous group called NW Native Pride. The group was created in 2017 by Tessa Sayers to re-establish the urban native community and its surrounding areas that were once active through her grandmother, Mary Sayers; the first certified Native American Cultural Specialist, appointed by Bureau of Indian Affairs in the Puget Sound area of Washington. In an effort to honor her families ties to the local area, Tessa teamed up with her artist father, Michael Sayers, to create the salmon logo for NW Native Pride. Michael studied Coast Salish art from Doug Granum and Skokomish tribal leader and artist Bruce Miller. Combining Michael's experience with Coast Salish art design and Tessa's graphic skills, together they created the salmon motif. This collection celebrates Native pride and those that now call the Pacific Northwest home.
