The Medicine Wheel is a symbol found across many indigenous nations. The teachings and concepts vary slightly between communities; however, the most common shared symbolism speaks to the four directions, natural elements, states of being, medicines and phases of life. Soul Curiosity often talks about the medicine wheel in relation to the mental, emotional spiritual and physical. This year, Soul Curiosity will be exploring the natural elements.
Our physical world is composed of four classic elements; water, fire, earth and air. These elements are considered important energy forces and as a part of the medicine wheel, used as a guide and teaching tool for learning and personal growth. The 2018 Fall Collection introduces you to the EARTH ELEMENT. This collection consists of leggings, tanks, tees, a tote bag, pouch, journals, blankets and a men's necktie.
As a physical element, earth is the foundation for our lives. It is the canvas for which our homes are built and is the nutritional wonderland for the food that sustains us. Metaphysically, earth reminds us to ground ourselves, to connect our energetic self with the calming and centering energies of mother earth.
Inspiration for Soul Curiosity’s Earth Collection is connected to the song "Earth" composed by Hans Zimmer in the movie Gladiator. I fell in love with Gladiator because of the music. The first time I heard the song "earth" playing, I closed my eyes and felt the music—really felt it. When I hear this music, I imagine running my fingers through a wheat field as I walk toward the sunset. I imagine lying on the ground and feeling the weight of my body sinking into the earth as I let go of my worries. In that moment, I feel connected, I feel grounded, and I feel safe.
The Earth Collection is about connecting YOUR roots with the earth. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed, take that moment to close your eyes and truly feel the ground beneath you. The earth is solid; it's always there for you. When you need centering, let your imagination take flight as you envision your own energetic roots growing from the bottom of your feet into the earth, as she supports and grounds you.
This fall let your Native Roots center yourself and ground you with mother earth. She will always be there to connect you back to yourself. Welcome to the Earth Collection.
